Coffee With E

You’re Not Afraid to Fail, You’re Afraid to Succeed

Erica Rawls

In this episode of Coffee with E, Erica Rawls goes deep. No guests, just real talk. She unpacks a truth that many of us avoid. We’re not afraid of failing, we’re afraid of what happens when we succeed.

From losing old friendships to stepping into the spotlight, Erica shares what it really looks like to evolve. She opens up about how isolation can be part of growth, how to lead with courage, and why waiting for clarity is often just fear in disguise.

This episode is your reminder that success isn’t something to delay. It’s something to embrace.

If you’ve been stuck, this is your moment. Let go. Grow. And do it afraid.

Erica Rawls:

Hey you, boy, do I have an episode for you? Today I'm actually going to be talking to my younger self, the one before I understood what success was and may have even tried to sabotage it just to delay success. What do you mean? Well, buckle up. Here we go. A lot of us talk about, hey, we want to have this big goal, we're going to chase after this, we're going to chase after that, and then, when we actually get it, we really don't know what to do with it. Why? Because it's just the fear. It's not the fear of not succeeding, it's the fear of succeeding, because with success comes growth, and it took me a long time to get to this point where I had to understand that, in order for you to grow, you're going to have to evolve, and evolving equates to pruning or cocooning for maybe three months, six years, however long it takes, which means that you might feel like you're in isolation, or it may mean you have to leave your group of friends that you used to be with, because with evolution, there is separation and not everyone's going to be able to go along for the ride with you. And that's scary, right? Because you're going to turn into this new version of yourself that you may not even be prepared for, or you may think you're not prepared for it's because you don't have the courage, or you may feel because you don't have the courage, or you may feel that you don't have the courage to move forward in this new identity. Hey, I'm hoping you're enjoying this episode of Coffee with E. I had to take 30 seconds to share with you one of our sponsors for this episode Top Construction. They are a premier construction company located in central PA, so if you live in Dauphin, cumberland, lancaster and Lebanon counties, you want to check them out. Not only are they reliable, they are reasonable and they get the job done.

Erica Rawls:

Now let's go back to the episode, and I'm here to share with you just to stand strong. Why? Because at the end it will all make sense and sure you may be able to go back to your old group of friends, and there may be some that you still have some common relationship with. And then there's others you'd be like man. They're still acting like A, b and C or whatever, right, and it's just no longer a good fit. It's okay. People grow apart. You can't be afraid to lose what you once had, because, guess what? You always have your memories and those that are still able to go with you. That's great, but you have to continue to look forward, because with old relationships, even though they may go, there's new relationships that are going to empower you into something bigger, into the version of yourself that you're going to need to be in order to get to where you want to go.

Erica Rawls:

I want to take two seconds to share with you that this particular episode is brought to you by Rob Shaw and Allstate Insurance. If you're looking for someone to give you insurance whether it's home insurance, car insurance go to him. He is your guy. Thank you, rob, for sponsoring this show.

Erica Rawls:

And then let's talk about the business side of things. Once you hit success and you grind, and you grind, and you grind, and you grind and you finally boom, it's here. That is so exhilarating. And then you're like, oh my gosh, it is here. Now, what? What am I going to do? I totally get it. I was once that way too, until I understood the power of leverage.

Erica Rawls:

But with that comes its own set of problems, its own set of insecurities, your own set of battles that you have to take care of internally as well as externally. That means you have to believe in other people. You have to lead and get results through other people. How in the world am I going to do that? I barely know how to manage myself. Well, take a course.

Erica Rawls:

Listen to podcasts, just like this. That's going to help you to understand that, hey, you are not alone and it's okay to have the feelings that you have, but as long as you know where to turn or who to go to for that guidance, you'll be okay. And who do you actually go to? You want to go to someone that's either two or three steps ahead of you, that's going to be able to show you the roadmap, but not too far away that they forget what it was like to be in your position. That's probably going to be the best mentor for you. Big thank you to Sugaring NYC Harrisburg for sponsoring this episode. It's because of them we're able to bring this great content to you. Are you searching for a fabulous place that does lashes and eyebrows, that slay, or hair removal that just makes you feel so great? You want to check them out. Now back to our show.

Erica Rawls:

And then, when they give you advice, please execute. Execute at a high level, because that's going to ultimately help you and it's going to build a relationship and they're going to connect you to other people and it's just going to be a whirlwind of connections and networking and boom. Your business is going to flourish even more. Then you're going to have the success and the courage to be able to blossom into that new evolution that you have in your business as well as your personal life. So, once you begin to grow, growth is a great thing. Life. So, once you begin to grow, growth is a great thing.

Erica Rawls:

And do not hide behind. Well, I need to get more clarity. Well, I need my logo. Well, I need this and that. Stop, stop it. That's just a pretty way. And putting it in a cute little outfit, that's called fear. And you're delaying the ultimate gratification, which is ultimate success.

Erica Rawls:

Then you're going to start feeling like oh my gosh, I'm now in the spotlight. People are looking at me. Yep, they are, and you want to know why? Because you deserve it. You have to be bold in your new success and your newfound, I guess, window of opportunity, if you will, because that's all a part of it, and people are going to judge. Don't think they are, they will. Who cares? I always say if people are talking about you. That means you are that bad girl. Someone might say something else, but you know what I'm talking about.

Erica Rawls:

Right, you want people to talk about you because that means that you're actually doing things that either they wanted to do or they don't have the courage to ask you how to do it too, and it's okay. But just know you stay positive and you pay it forward to anyone that's going to listen or anyone that is open to it, and grow a dynamic business, have a great culture, protect your culture and do the best things that you possibly can do. Just in case you don't know, these episodes are brought to you and funded majority from my real estate team, the Erica Ross team. So thank you for continuing to support this channel. And if you're looking to sponsor in any way, one of the best gifts you can give us is a referral. So if you know anyone that's looking to buy or to sell, reach out to us. We are here to help.

Erica Rawls:

One of the things I feel is a great testament to you being a successful business person or a business owner is results through other and then they actually go out and they do just as well as you. You're grooming people to be the best people that they possibly be, so they can actually evolve into the best versions of themselves. Sure, some people are going to stay and some people may leave, but as long as your business is growing, that's a great testament to you. So this is what I need you to do. I need you to do it afraid. It's okay to be afraid, but you can't be stuck in fear, because that is not acceptable. Take that leap of faith, go after it, grab it and just keep going. You have nothing to lose. I promise you you'll be happy you did and I can't wait to see you in the comments.
